With the Shareware Extension you can offer your Game Maker creations as a free trial. When a player purchases an unlock code for your game, you get to keep 100% of the profit.



Many games offer a try before you buy option, often to give the player 60 minutes of actual playing time. Once the trial time expires the player must purchase a license code to unlock the game in order to continue playing.

The Shareware Extension allows you to do just that and best of all it is FREE and easy to use. By simply adding a single action to the start of your game you can turn it into a timed trial lasting however long you set. You can also specify the unlock key which turns it into the full version.

No need to create dual versions.

You can offer your game as a trial version which allows the player to evaluate. If they enjoy it they can opt to purchase a license code (which you set) to turn it into a full version. Since the game itself does not alter, any previous game saves will remain compatible. Once the trial time expires the player must either purchase a license code or exit the game.

Uninstalling and re-installing your game has no effect upon the trial time. If your trial game was uninstalled with 5 minutes of play time remaining, re-installing will still give just 5 minutes left.



The shareware extension also contains additional actions you can use to customize how it interacts with your game and for advanced programmers it contains GML functions you can use to give further control over when and what you would like to happen when the trial ends.
